Starvin Marvin IWSH3 welcomes back long lost hasher who will be drinking for all that hashus-interuptus. But was in such hurry to get back that he actually signed up to hare while still in the States (now talk about dedication. or is it competition...?) Go strait through Four Corners to 3 Corners where you will turn Left.
Immediately after turning you will turn right
You will follow this narrow road to an intersection just before the bridge crossing the Imazu River where there will be a Marukyu supermarket on the left just before the intersection. You will turn LEFT at this intersection following the narrow road along the river briefly descending the high bank on which you are traveling on where they are building the Iwakuni By-pass.
Marukyu Supermarket Sign As you come to the tip of the peninsula you will notice huge 200 year old trees at the end as the road turns around the tip of the Peninsula to the LEFT. As you come around to the LEFT under the huge trunk trees you will notice a parking area and a park down off the embankment to the RIGHT. This is the Peninsula Park Start. Just after the turn you will notice a small Shrine. The turn into the parking is just past it on the RIGHT.
Follow Route 2 into Iwakuni past the turn off on the LEFT for Route 188 or to Iwakuni Train Station. At the 5th traffic signal after the turn off for Route 188 or 2nd traffic signal after Chou Dori (the divided Boulevard leading to the front of Iwakuni Station, the next big intersection after Route 188) here you want to turn LEFT. For landmarks there will be a Sushi Restaurant with a guy's face on the sign on the RIGHT and you'll will pass under a pedestrian overpass just 15ft/5m before the traffic signal. If you pass the McDonalds on the right you just missed it and have gone too far. Travel down this road (Yamaguchi Route 113) over the train tracks. At the second Traffic Signal after the train tracks you will turn RIGHT. Take this road to the next Traffic Signal 500yds./500m down where you will turn LEFT and follow this road over the bridge crossing the Imazu River. At this point you coming from the opposite direction of those coming from MCAS Iwakuni. You should see a Maryuku Supermarket sign on the other end of the bridge. You will turn RIGHT immediately after crossing the bridge follow the directions from above keeping in mind that you are turning RIGHT and not LEFT at the intersection Follow Route 2 into Kuga as you pass the main intersection there with a bookstore and an ENOS gas station on your right you go up a hill and atthe next traffic signal you will veer right onto Route 15 follow this through 3 tunnels. After the 3rd tunnel you descend a hill with a Big Motors car dealership and a 7-11 on your left. Follow this road through the next Traffic Signal up the hill past Iwakuni Sports Park and the turn off for Minami Iwakuni. Continue on around and as you descend you will arrive at a Traffic Signal just before 2 bridges crossing the Nishiki River. You will turn RIGHT at the Traffic Signal and follow the narrow road down alongside the river to the second Traffic Signal. At this Traffic Signal there will be a bridge on the LEFT crossing what is now the Monzen River. Turn LEFT here and cross the bridge. At the other end of the bridge there is a Traffic Signal where you will turn LEFT again and follow the narrow road along the high embankment back up the river to the point. Upon arriving to the tip of the Peninsula you will notice the huge 200 year trees there will be a small shrine on the LEFT the entrance into the parking for start is just before that. See the above directions for pictures keeping in mind that you are coming from the opposite direction from which they are referenced so the turn will be on your LEFT not the RIGHT
